How to Change the Cabin Air Filter on a 2011-2015 Chevy Cruze

The cabin air filter on your 2011 to 2015 Chevy Cruze removes contaminants from the air by trapping dust, soot and dirt from outside air before it has the chance to enter your cabin. Changing your Cruze’s cabin air filter at regular maintenance intervals helps improve the performance and airflow of your temperature control systems, as well as making breathing more comfortable by eliminating odors and allergens.

This procedure applies to most 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Chevy Cruze models, but be sure to know the specifics for your Cruze before getting started. If you’re not completely comfortable changing your cabin air filter yourself, we’d be happy to recommend a professional technician in your area.

Move the passenger seat back for more room to work.

Step 1: Prepare Your Cruze for the Job

Open the glove box and empty the contents. Move the passenger seat back if you need more room to work.

Detach the damper on the outside of the glove box.

Step 2: Detach Glove Box Fasteners

Use a small flat blade screwdriver or trim tool to get underneath the tabs on either side of the inside of the compartment to push them forward so you can remove them. If your Cruze instead has a cable with a catch, slip it off to allow the glove box to drop down. Detach the damper on the outside of the glove box by feeding the catch out through the opening.

Slide the glove box off its hinges.

Step 3: Remove the Glove Box from its Hinges

Now you should be able to tilt the glove box down and slide it off its hinges and out of the foot well. With the glove box out of the way, you should be able to see the cabin air filter.

Remove the panel for access to the filter.
