Failure to replace a cabin air filter may allow the filter to clog, and can result in strange smells and may affect A/C system performance as well. These simple instructions on how to replace the cabin air filter on a 2006-2011 Toyota Camry will help keep the air in your car clean so that you and your passengers can breathe freely.
How to Change the Cabin Air Filter on a 2006-2011 Toyota Camry
The cabin air filter in your Toyota Camry traps airborne contaminants like dust, dirt, and debris before they enter your car’s cabin. This helps minimize allergens and keeps the air inside the car fresh and clean. Removing and replacing your Camry’s cabin air filter is a routine automotive maintenance task that will improve overall air quality and airflow for a more enjoyable ride. The commonly recommended service interval for your cabin air filter is once a year or every 15,000 to 20,000 miles, but it’s a good idea to consult your Camry’s service manual for a specific recommendation.

Step-By-Step Instructions to Replace Your 06-11 Toyota Camry Cabin Air Filter
Step 1: Locate the Filter Cover
Open your front passenger-side door and the glove box, and remove any contents from the glove box. Disengage the damper on the right side of the glove box by removing the Phillips screw securing it to the post. Squeeze in on both sides of the glove box to disengage it, then lower the whole assembly. Now you should be able to see the cabin air filter cover.
Step 2: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter
Press in the tabs on the right and left sides of the cover to disengage them, and carefully remove the cover and filter tray as a unit. The top of the filter could be full of dirt and other contaminants.
Step 3: Clean & Compare
Clean any dust or debris out of the filter housing with a microfiber cloth. Compare your new filter with the old one to make sure you have the right replacement.
Step 4: Install the New Cabin Air Filter
Install your new filter in the tray with the airflow direction arrow pointing down. Reinstall the filter tray and secure the cover by snapping the tabs into place on both sides.
Step 5: Reinstall the Glove Box
Lift up the glove box, making sure its hinges are clipped into place at the back. Push in on both sides of the box to reengage the tabs to hold it in place. Reattach the damper on the right side. Replace any items you took out of the glove compartment, and close it.
