Remove Your Old Handle

Install Your New Exterior Handle

In two images, our expert installs a new handle by pressing the handle into the same space the old handle was.

Start by pressing the new gaskets into place on each side. To install the handle, press it directly in toward the door itself then forward, toward the front of the car.

In two images, the trim is reinstalled into the car door’s interior.

Step 7: Reinstall Your Door’s Interior Trim

Reinstall the trim piece by reengaging the tabs and snapping it into place. Thread the fasteners you removed earlier then tighten them. If you removed a rubber seal for access to the fastener, you can reinstall it now.

Our expert moves the insulating material back into place and secures it.

Step 8: Replace Your Insulating Material

Move the insulating material back into place across the door, and use two-sided, waterproof tape to reattach it if the adhesive isn’t keeping it in place.

The main interior panel is replaced and the area around the handle is secured with fasteners.

Step 9: Replace Your Main Panel

Put the main panel back in place, starting at the top.

In three images, rest of the door panel is secured, wiring harnesses are reattached and trim pieces are reinstalled.

Secure the door panel with the fasteners you removed earlier, reattach any wiring harnesses, and reinstall any trim pieces.
