Dodge Grand Caravan Cabin Air Filter Change Instructions

We’ll be changing the cabin air filter in this 2017 Grand Caravan SXT, and procedures will be similar for a lot of Grand Caravan models from 2008 to 2020, but be sure to know the specifics for your vehicle before getting started. If you’re not completely comfortable doing this yourself, we’d be happy to recommend a professional technician in your area.

Prepare Your Vehicle

Step 1: Prepare Your Vehicle

Open your front passenger side door and empty your glove box.
Charles presses the sides of the glove box to release the tabs and remove it from the vehicle

Step 2: Remove the Glove Box

Release the dampener on the left side by lifting up on the glove box slightly and slipping the catch out of the hold on the side of the assembly. Press in on both sides of the glove box to release the tabs and lower it completely.
Charles lifts the cabin air filter cover in order to access the filter.

Step 3: Remove Filter Cover

Your cabin air filter is behind a cover that’s secured by tabs on either side. Press in on the tabs on both sides and remove the cover.
Charles removes the old cabin air filter.

Step 4: Remove Old Cabin Air Filter

Remove the old filter. Make sure there’s no dust or debris inside the housing.

Install New Cabin Air Filter

Charles installs the new air filter with the arrows on the side pointing down.

Step 5: Install New Cabin Air Filter

Insert your new cabin air filter, making sure the direction arrows are pointing down.
Charles reattaches the cabin air filter housing cover and makes sure to snap it in place.

Step 6: Replace Filter Housing Cover

Press the cabin air filter cover back into place until it snaps.
Charles replaces the glove box and makes sure the side tabs are reengaged to secure it.

Step 7: Replace the Glove Box

Lift the glove box and press in on the sides to reengage the tabs. Reinstall the dampener by slipping the catch back into the hold on the side of the glove box assembly.
Now that the glove box is secured, Charles can replace the items inside and close it.

Step 8: Close Your Glove Box

Replace any contents you removed and close the glove box.
