How to Replace The Engine Air Filter In a 2011 to 2016 Honda CR-V

Failing to change your air filter regularly can result in dirt and debris getting into your engine. If you notice odd noises coming from the engine, misfiring, or if you smell gasoline when starting your CR-V, you may need a new air filter. Quickly and easily replace the air filter in your 2011 to 2016 Honda CR-V with these helpful, step-by-step instructions from the Parts Professional People™ at O’Reilly Auto Parts®.

Step 1: Locate Your Old Air Filter

Park on a level surface and open the hood. The air filter housing is on the driver’s side of the engine bay.

Step 2: Remove the Air Filter Housing Lid

Disengage the three clips securing the lid of the air filter housing.

Step 3: Remove Old Filter

Lift the lid of the housing and remove the old filter. Clean any leaves or debris out of the air filter housing.
A new air filter is installed in the CR-V.

Step 4: Add New Filter

Put your new air filter in place, making sure it’s seated properly all the way around the upper edge. Close the lid and reengage the clips.

Step 5: Secure Lid

Make sure the lid is secure on the housing. Close the hood.
