Step-By-Step Instructions to Change an Air Filter on a 2011 to 2015 Chevy Cruze

This procedure applies to most 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Chevy Cruze models, but be sure to know the specifics for your Cruze before getting started. If you don’t feel completely comfortable doing this yourself, we’d be happy to recommend a professional technician in your area.
Loosen the fasteners securing the air box lid with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Step 1: Loosen the Air Box Fasteners

Open the hood and locate the air box on the passenger side of the engine bay. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen the screws around the outside of the lid.
Raise the lid and remove the old filter.

Step 2: Remove the Old Air Filter

Now you should be able to lift the lid on the air filter housing and remove the old air filter.
Clean any debris from the air box before installing the new filter.

Step 3: Clean Out the Air Box

Clean any dust and debris from inside the air box before installing your new filter.
Install the new filter.

Step 4: Install the New Air Filter

Once the air box is clean inside, put your new filter into place, making sure it’s properly seated all the way around.
Tighten the fasteners to secure the lid.

Step 5: Tighten the Air Box Fasteners

Use your Phillips-head screwdriver to secure the lid on the air box by tightening the fasteners. Close the hood.
