Charlotte is preparing to host the upcoming Bank of America 500 and Walmarts in the area will hold events to promote the race and give fans a chance to meet their favorite drivers and purchase NASCAR merchandise.

Select Walmart stores will supply consumers with authentic NASCAR merchandise and host exclusive events for fans that will begin on October 9. The events will also feature simulator displays, which makes it perfectly safe to get behind the wheel of a NASCAR vehicle. The events will last until October 12 and last from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. every day, varying by location.

"Walmart is the champion of the racing fan, and we are committed to providing customers with savings on authentic merchandise, as well as unique race time experiences," said David Cruse, Walmart market manager. "We want to give fans affordability and accessibility, so they can enjoy race time with their families and friends."

In addition to the events that the superstores are holding across the Charlotte area, Walmart will also offer discounts to customers on food and snacks that are needed to enjoy the race, in addition to t-shirts and racing flags that would make the race even more enjoyable for NASCAR fans.

"NASCAR fans that descend into Cabarrus County spend millions of dollars that help our local economy by generating tax revenues for local governments," said Donna Carpenter, president and CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau. "The economic impact that visitors create trickles throughout the county, via hotels, restaurants and retail stores. In essence, the speedway is the driver, and we are the pit crew! It's a win-win for everyone."

Motorists who are planning to attend the events could also purchase replacement parts to their vehicles if they need to. In honor of Fall Car Care Month, motorists should make sure that their vehicles are in the best condition for the fall and winter before it's too late and the vehicle's performance gets worse. The Car Care Council recommends making sure the engine oil is changed regularly in order to ensure that all parts of the vehicle are responding to the driver's needs.
